EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 21, 2011) – Edinboro University sophomore Ernest James (Medford, NY/ Longwood) has been named the PSAC Wrestler of the Week for the week ending December 19. James led the Fighting Scots to a 37-12 win over Clarion in their EWL opener on Monday night.
James improved to 17-4 with an impressive win by fall over Quintas McCorkle at heavyweight to wrap up a match in which the Fighting Scots won five bouts by bonus points. He has now matched his win total from a year ago when he finished 17-16. It marked the second time he was honored by the PSAC.
In addition, James is one of six Edinboro wrestlers ranked in the latest weekly polls. He is now 17th according to Amateur Wrestling News, along with 20th in the InterMat rankings. In addition, he is 21st in the WrestlingReport.com poll.
As a team Edinboro remains 24th in the latest NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll. The Fighting Scots are also 18th in InterMat’s Tournament-Strength Rankings, 17th in WIN Magazine’s Tournament Power Index, and 14th in the WrestlingReport.com rankings. Edinboro is also ranked fifth in the NWMA Division I Mid Major Poll. This poll includes all Division I wrestling schools that do not sponsor a football program in a BCS conference. The poll is endorsed by the National Wrestling Media Association and is chaired by the National Collegiate Open.
